Mother-of-three held €470k in drugs for criminal gang

Summary

Crystal Coady, 26, of Bluebell Road, Dublin, was jailed for four years after pleading guilty to possession of drugs for sale or supply. Gardaí, acting on confidential information that controlled drugs were stored in the Bluebell area, set up an operation on 24 August 2018. They observed Coady leave her house with a pink holdall bag, which she handed over a railing to another woman. Gardaí later retrieved the bag from the woman's address, finding about 3 kg of heroin and almost ½ kg of crack cocaine, valued at roughly €470 000. Coady's solicitor admitted responsibility for the drugs, noting the recipient was unaware of their contents. Coady had 17 prior convictions, mainly traffic offences, and was a single mother of three. The court considered her vulnerable status, cocaine use, debt, and role as a caring mother.
