Aspiring DJ concealed heroin in buttocks

Summary

Mark Sorahan, 44, of Ferrycarrig Drive, Coolock, Dublin, pleaded guilty at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of heroin for sale or supply and obstruction of a Garda during a search on Priorswood Road on 16 March 2018. He admitted buying heroin to raise money for his girlfriend's car repairs. During a Garda search, a lump was found in one of his socks and a second package was discovered "within his buttocks," totaling €1,497.50. Sorahan cooperated with Gardaí and expressed a desire for a normal life and a career in music. His defence lawyer, Luigi Rea, noted that Sorahan had recently completed a music production course and was seeking work as a DJ, claiming he was now living a very different life. Judge Karen O'Connor adjourned sentencing to 31 July to allow preparation of reports.
