Summary

A 50‑year‑old woman, Grace Miano, was found unfit to stand trial for the murder of 27‑year‑old Limbani "Robert" Mzoma, a Malawian national, who was killed on 1 November 2018 at Miano's home in Foxrock, Dublin. Miano, originally from Kenya, has schizophrenia and was admitted to the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) on 15 November 2018 after earlier treatment at Tallaght Hospital in July 2017. Two forensic psychiatrists, Dr Ronan Mullaney and Dr Paul O'Connell, examined her and reported that she suffers from schizoaffective disorder and paranoid schizophrenia, with persistent auditory hallucinations, delusional beliefs and poor insight. They concluded she could not plead, instruct counsel or form a proper defence. Judge Eileen Creedon therefore committed Miano to the CMH until 20 June, ordering a further psychiatric assessment by an approved medical officer.
