Summary

David Fox, 51, of Croftwood Crescent, Ballyfermot, Dublin, pleaded guilty at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of cannabis and cocaine for sale or supply at his address on 5 November 2016. Gardaí searched the premises on a warrant and found a large cardboard box beside Fox's bed containing 6.92 kg of cannabis and 2.59 kg of cocaine, with a combined value of €320,313. Fox initially claimed one of his three daughters was responsible, but later accepted sole responsibility. He said he was short of money and agreed to hold the drugs for one night in exchange for €50, claiming he owed no drug debt and had no prior convictions. The court adjourned the case pending a psychological assessment, to be completed on 17 July. The judge noted the peculiarity of engaging in criminal activity for such a small payment.
