Summary
A judge ordered a consultant psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist to prepare reports on a 16‑year‑old boy who tried to murder a 25‑year‑old woman he met on the Whisper app. The boy, who cannot be named, pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Ms Ng on 23 December 2017 at Sea Front, Queen's Road, Dun Laoghaire. He met her in person, suggested a selfie by the water's edge, then grabbed her from behind, choked her to unconsciousness and slashed her neck with a knife. Gardai found a book of drawings in his bedroom, including a sketch of a person being cut and the words "serial killer." Ms Ng gave an emotional victim impact statement at the sentencing hearing.
