Serial sex attacker jailed for gross indecency with mentally impaired man

Summary

John Daly, aged 58, received a five‑year sentence for five acts of gross indecency with a mentally impaired male between 2016 and 2017. The Court of Criminal Appeal heard that Daly had threatened the complainant with death and had performed oral sex and rubbed his penis over the male. Judge Melanie Greally noted the maximum sentence for such offences is two years but imposed five consecutive years, suspending the final 12 months for five years.
