Summary

In a fatal two‑car collision on 17 November 2015 near Blanchardstown, Michael Jones, a professional roofer, was driving an Audi A3 that allegedly ran a red light at speed and struck the side of a Mitsubishi Colt driven by Hong Qing Qu. Mr Qu, who was on his way home with his partner and two children, called his partner that night to say he was finished work and heading home. The partner reported that this was a routine call. Gardaí later arrived, informed her of the accident, and took her to the hospital where she identified Mr Qu's body. Dr Linda Mulligan, the deputy state pathologist, concluded that Mr Qu died from a severe head injury and multiple traumatic injuries to the right side, consistent with a side‑on collision. The unnamed man pleaded not guilty.
