Witness describes moment pedestrian was hit by garda car

Summary

An eye witness testified that a garda patrol car driven by Warren Farrell (35) struck and killed pedestrian Elizabeth Core on Fonthill Road South on 28 August 2014. Farrell, who has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing death, was driving a marked patrol car responding to a panic button call at a Topaz garage when the collision occurred. Witness Alma Ozakauskiene described the road as curved and the car moving at high speed, noting she did not hear a siren or see lights. Geraldine Brown, who was on her mobile phone, observed Core crossing at a normal pace and saw the patrol car hit her, with no siren audible. The trial is ongoing before Judge Cormac Quinn and a jury.
