Murder suspect arrested after smoker spotted suspicious car, trial hears

Summary

Gardai arrested Warren Nolan (22) after a woman smoking on her balcony noticed a suspicious car. The Central Criminal Court heard that Nolan is accused of murdering 35‑year‑old Alan O'Neill on 27 May 2015. O'Neill was shot outside his Tallaght home and died from gunshot wounds. Nolan also pleaded not guilty to damaging a car by fire at Belfry Square on the same date. Prosecutor Shane Costelloe argued that Nolan fired the shots that killed O'Neill and that the burnt‑out car was the one used in the shooting. Evidence includes gloves found on Nolan with gunshot residue, forensic analysis, bullet holes, bullets, and CCTV footage. The trial is before Justice Paul McDermott with a jury of twelve. The prosecution has begun calling witnesses. The case remains at the trial stage.
