Summary

The Special Criminal Court has decided that Patrick Hutch's trial will not resume next month as previously indicated. Judge Tony Hunt confirmed that the case would be listed again on December 3, giving the court more than ten days to handle the matter. Senior prosecutor Sean Gillane explained that the disclosure of the final report into the death of lead investigating Garda Detective Superintendent Colm Fox had not yet been handed to the defence due to an "unanticipated difficulty" on the prosecution side. Gillane said the report was based on a significant amount of documentation and that the December dates previously mentioned would not be productively used, though he requested the listing on December 3 be maintained. Defence counsel Michael O'Higgins said the material would be received as soon as possible and that the dates would not be used. Patrick Hutch pleaded not guilty.
