History of domestic rows between murder accused (70) and partner, trial hears
Summary
During a murder trial at the Central Criminal Court, Desmond Duffy, aged 70, pleaded not guilty to the killing of his partner Des Sullivan, aged 59, at their shared home in Somerville Park, Rathmines, on 23 May 2016. The court heard that the couple had a long history of domestic disputes. In October 2013, Garda Michael Cunningham responded to a report of a domestic argument at the Duffy–Sullivan residence. Sullivan told the officer that they had been together for 35 years and that they had been arguing, adding that he had thrown bleach at Duffy. He also said that arguments had become more frequent.
