Two others guilty of Hutch murder

Summary

In a Special Criminal Court hearing, Thomas Fox, aged 31, was found guilty of contributing to the murder of Gareth Hutch, aged 36, who was shot dead on 24 May 2016 outside Avondale House flats. The court accepted the prosecution's case that Fox, a subordinate of Jonathan Keogh, acted under Keogh's influence and direction. Fox denied the murder but was convicted of unlawfully possessing a Makarov 9 mm handgun on the day of the shooting. The court rejected Fox's defence of withdrawal and coercion, stating there was no evidence of a clear intention to leave the criminal enterprise. Additionally, Regina Keogh, aged 41, was found guilty of colluding with her brother to cause serious injury to Hutch, based largely on testimony from Mary McDonnell. Both convictions were delivered by a three‑judge panel led by Justice Tony Hunt.
