Attacker slashed artery in own hand while stabbing victim in stomach

Summary

Ryan McLoughlin, aged 22, was found guilty of assaulting Scott Byrne on the Tallaght bypass on 26 May 2013. McLoughlin followed Byrne after a night out, stabbed him in the buttock and stomach, and during the attack sliced an artery in his own left hand. Byrne was treated at Tallaght Hospital while McLoughlin was later taken to the hospital on a trolley with his injured hand. McLoughlin, who has prior convictions for drug offences and traffic matters, pleaded guilty on his trial date.
