Judgement reserved in action over ICA elections

Summary

In High Court proceedings, Ms Patricia Madden, a long‑time ICA member, has brought action against the Irish Country Women's Association over the conduct of its 2018 national executive elections. She alleges the ICA breached its constitution by failing to count ballots before the AGM in May, and that the election results announced at the AGM, including the national president, were invalid. Madden claims the ICA's procedures at the AGM, an earlier EGM, and a National Executive meeting were ultra vires and based on flawed legal advice. She seeks injunctions to prevent the ICA from filling any board vacancies until the dispute is resolved.
