Summary
A jury at the Central Criminal Court has viewed CCTV footage from Donegal Town showing a teenager accused of rape before and after the alleged offences on St Patrick's Day 2016. The accused, now 19, denies the charges relating to a 16-year-old girl. During cross-examination, defence counsel Michael O'Higgins SC highlighted footage showing the pair walking together with their arms around each other beforehand, and later holding hands and kissing. He submitted their apparent comfort suggested consent. The complainant, now 18, testified she was in a state of shock and could not explain her actions afterwards.
