Slain "small time criminal" went to meet murder accused, partner tells trial
Summary
During the Central Criminal Court trial of 35‑year‑old Jason O'Driscoll, Crystal Jackson, the former partner of Joseph Redmond, testified that on 7 March 2012 she and Redmond were trying to sell a black 2011 Volkswagen Golf. She said Redmond had mentioned the car to O'Driscoll, who was then in the house. Jackson recounted that Redmond and O'Driscoll discussed the price, with O'Driscoll offering €700 and Redmond proposing €1,000. She described how Redmond and Anthony Burnett, a 31‑year‑old "small‑time criminal", agreed to take the car if O'Driscoll came. Jackson noted that the two men left the house around 8:30 pm, after Redmond had called O'Driscoll to arrange the sale. She also mentioned that the Gardaí had warned Redmond of a threat to his life 18 months earlier. The trial continues with legal arguments before Mr Justice Michael White, and the jury will reconvene on Monday. Jason O'Driscoll pleaded not guilty.
