An elderly stroke victim, who is the complainant, told the court that she was very annoyed that her money was gone. She alleged that her former carer, Sabrina O'Connor, stole thousands of euros from her bank account over a period of two years. The complainant denied that a female friend assisted her memory when she made her statement to the Gardaí. She said she had lent O'Connor money after the defendant claimed she needed an operation on her leg, and that O'Connor had not repaid her. The prosecution alleged that O'Connor stole a €15,000 bank draft used to secure a house option, a €8,500 draft used to buy a Land Rover, and used cheques to take money from the complainant's account for her own benefit. The trial is before Judge Karen O'Connor and a jury. Sabrina O'Connor pleaded not guilty.
