Gareth Hutch died of multiple gunshot injuries, trial hears

Summary

The Special Criminal Court heard that Gareth Hutch, 36, died of multiple gunshot wounds after being shot in the carpark of Avondale House flats on North Cumberland Street, Dublin, on 24 May 2016. He suffered four gunshot injuries: two to the back of the neck, one to the lower back and one to the right of the upper chest. The post‑mortem, conducted by Professor Marie Cassidy, confirmed the injuries and noted that all bullets were recovered. Three bullets travelled from back to front, the fourth lodged in his left arm. Hutch lost over 2.5 litres of blood and was not intoxicated. Three men—Thomas Fox (31), Regina Keogh (41) and Jonathan Keogh (32)—are on trial for his murder, all pleading not guilty. The trial, presided over by Mr Justice Tony Hunt, continues with the prosecution alleging pre‑meditated planning and involvement of the accused in the shooting.
