The Central Criminal Court heard that Reilly had been beaten to death after he fired shots at a house in Dublin. The paramedics attempted to revive him, puncturing his lung and inserting a tube in his throat, but he went into cardiac arrest en route to James Connolly Memorial Hospital. Garda Niall Glackin, one of the first responders, described Reilly's clothes torn and deep lacerations on his back, shoulder and arm, while Garda Conor Mallon and Garda Orlene Corrigan noted that Reilly's arm appeared almost severed. The prosecution alleges the men are guilty of murder. The defence maintains their innocence. Paul Bradley pleaded not guilty.
