Summary

In a trial opened on 30 May 2018, Paul Bradley (54) and his sons Jason (20), Dean (24) and Ryan (18) of Liscarne Gardens, Dublin 22, denied murdering Neil Reilly (36) at Esker Glebe, Lucan, on 18 January 2017. Prosecutor Paul Murray SC presented evidence that Reilly fired a shotgun at the Bradley home around 4 a.m. The accused were present and allegedly chased Reilly in a jeep and a BMW. Gardai were alerted and later found the vehicles returning to the house. Reilly was pursued to Esker Glebe, where a Mazda crashed and he was left for dead. A pathologist's report recorded seven blows with a chopping implement, two to the head and five to the body, plus severe crush injuries to the pelvis. The prosecution argued the accused were willing, knowing participants in a joint enterprise to murder Reilly. The jury was instructed to decide solely on the evidence presented in court. Paul Bradley pleaded not guilty.
