Jailed robber told to stay away from victims for 30 years
Summary
David Fetherston, aged 31, was convicted of robbing a teenage schoolgirl's mobile phone on Malahide Road in March 2013 and of six further shop robberies in north Dublin during August–September 2016. He was found guilty by a jury in July 2017 and sentenced to four years' imprisonment, with the sentence backdated to that month. Judge Patricia Ryan also ordered that he must stay away from all his victims for 30 years. The court heard that Fetherston had an outburst during his trial, which caused concern for the girl, and that he had 134 previous convictions. He had been addicted to heroin at the time of the offences but had become drug‑free before the trial. The judge noted his remorse, rehabilitation from drugs and good behaviour in custody.
