Maintenance man avoids jail for fake billing nursing home
Summary
Stephen Morgan, 46, of Ferrycarrig Green, Coolock, pleaded guilty in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to stealing €3,050.18 from St Monica's Nursing Home, Belvedere Place, Dublin 1, by submitting fraudulent receipts between December 2014 and March 2015. He had been hired to carry out general maintenance, receiving cash to buy materials and then submitting receipts. Staff noticed delays in receipt submission, prompting a review that revealed inflated VAT and quotes masquerading as invoices. The nursing home recovered the full amount, which Morgan repaid.
