Jury fails to reach verdict in trial of man accused of murdering his former partner

Summary

A jury of ten members failed to reach a verdict in the trial of Vesel Jahiri, aged 33, who was accused of stabbing his former partner, Anna Finnegan, aged 25, in Dublin on 21 September 2012. The jury deliberated for more than ten hours over three days before the foreman informed Judge Paul McDermott that further time would not lead to an agreement. Jahiri pleaded not guilty to both the murder of Finnegan and to assault causing harm to her brother Karl on the same date. The judge thanked the jury for their entitlement to disagree.
