Criminal busted for cocaine possession gets 10 years

Summary

Trevor Brunton, 35, of Broombridge Road, Cabra, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing cocaine over €13,000 for sale or supply at Blanchardstown shopping centre and at his home on 28 July 2016. He was found with over €380,000 worth of cocaine, including eight blocks weighing just over three kilos and an estimated street value of €245,000, and a further quantity seized from his home, bringing the total to just over €382,000. Brunton had a drug debt of €15,000 and was transporting drugs to pay it off. He has seven previous convictions, including four firearm convictions, and was previously jailed for eight years in 2008. Judge Martin Nolan imposed a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and ordered a review of the case in six years. His co‑accused, Jason Kearney, 37, also pleaded guilty to one count of possession over €13,000 and was jailed for 10 years.
