Summary

The jury for former Anglo Irish Bank chief executive David Drumm, aged 51, was sent home until the end of January because of extensive legal argument in the case. Drumm, who lives in Skerries, Co. Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to conspiring with former bank officials Denis Casey, William McAteer, John Bowe and others to defraud depositors and investors by "dishonestly" creating the impression that Anglo's 2008 deposits were €7.2 billion larger than they actually were. He also pleaded not guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to using an account on 3 December 2008 to provide false information to the market about the bank's deposits. Judge Karen O'Connor warned the 15 jurors not to consult social media or conduct independent research, and to avoid electronic communication such as text, Twitter or Facebook. She told them they could leave until 29 January, when the trial would begin.
