Summary

In a Special Criminal Court hearing, Patrick Hutch, aged 25, was tried for the murder of David Byrne, 34, at the Regency Hotel in Dublin on 5 February 2016. The prosecution described the incident as a "resourced, carefully planned, targeted, murderous attack." Hutch allegedly entered the hotel in a silver van with a man wearing a flat cap and a man in a blonde wig. CCTV showed the trio carrying handguns and assault rifles, firing shots that caused panic.
