Judgement due next month as 29-day trial of men charged with Roy Collins murder comes to end

Summary

The Special Criminal Court has set a judgment date of 15 July for the 29‑day trial of Wayne Dundon (36) and Nathan Killeen (24), who were charged with the murder of 35‑year‑old Limerick businessman Roy Collins. The accused pleaded not guilty. The prosecution alleged that Dundon directed the murder from prison, Killeen acted as getaway driver, and James Dillon fired the single shot that killed Collins at Coin Castle Amusements on 9 April 2009. During the hearing, Mr Steve Collins, the victim's father, recounted the day's events, noting that his son had been at work when the gunman entered the arcade and that Collins was shot in the chest. Collins was conscious for a short time before his life could not be saved. The court will deliver its judgment on 15 July.
