Summary
In a Dublin court hearing, Jason Kearney, 37, was found drinking orange juice in the kitchen of his home while a fire raged. Garda Neill McGrath, responding to the fire, had to shout at Kearney several times to leave the premises as he kept walking back into the kitchen. After the fire was extinguished, the garda discovered prescription tablets on a countertop and later obtained a warrant to search the house. The raid uncovered €104,604 of phenazepam tablets, €41,180 of zopiclone pills, and €7,400 of the illegal drug TFMPP in zip‑lock bags in the tumble dryer. Kearney, a father of three from Lucan, pleaded guilty to possessing TFMPP for sale or supply at his home on 27 May 2015. He has 15 prior convictions and is already in custody until 2023 for another serious drug offence. Judge Martin Nolan imposed a three‑year sentence to run concurrently with the jail term he is currently serving.
