Aer Lingus worker helped illegal immigrants enter country
Summary
Frederick Cham, 62, of Railway Cottages, Hazelhatch, Celbridge, pleaded guilty in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two charges of organising or facilitating the entry of illegal immigrants into Ireland. The alleged offences involved helping persons bypass passport control at Dublin Airport on 29 December 2016 and 9 January 2017. Cham, originally from Hong Kong, was arrested by the Garda National Immigration Bureau. He was granted legal aid after a prior refusal. Judge Martin Nolan ordered a governor's report from Cloverhill Prison and adjourned the case to 6 February 2018.
