Roma teen's body found lying in foetal position, murder trial hears
Summary
In a murder trial at the Central Criminal Court, the body of 18‑year‑old Romanian teenager Marioara Rostas was found in a shallow grave in a foetal position four years after she disappeared. The body, discovered by former Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabbar at Kippure woodland on 23 January 2012, was wrapped in dark plastic bags and secured with duct tape. Dr Jabbar's post‑mortem revealed four gunshot entrance wounds to the front half of her head, with metallic fragments recovered from the skull. The 35‑year‑old defendant, Alan Wilson of New Street Gardens, is charged with her murder and has pleaded not guilty. Wilson allegedly showed a corpse to a friend, Fergus O'Hanlon, who testified that Wilson had assisted in burying the body. The trial, presided over by Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy, is expected to last three to four weeks.
