Manager on sick leave settles action against his employer
Summary
A credit manager at Rabobank, Colin Browne, who has been on sick leave for stress since January, brought a High Court action alleging the bank intended to dismiss him for missing internal disciplinary hearings about his absence. Browne, medically certified unfit for work, sought an injunction to prevent termination. The bank denied wrongdoing and opposed the injunction. The injunction hearing was scheduled before Mr Justice Michael Peart, but after negotiations the parties agreed to settle, and the court was instructed to strike out the proceedings.
