Thief broke in to six cars in 30 mins
Summary
Dwayne Cullen, 28, was caught on CCTV smashing windows of six cars in a church car park and taking items from three of them. He was later arrested at a hostel where stolen goods were found. Cullen pleaded guilty to criminal damage, theft and possession of stolen items, including a laptop, guitar, pedals and amplifier worth €7,000. He has 23 prior convictions, mainly for minor public order offences. Garda Niall McLoughlin reported that two bags taken from two cars were recovered and the stolen items at the hostel were returned to owners. Cullen wrote a remorse letter and offered to meet victims under the Restorative Justice Programme. Judge Karen O'Connor sentenced him to a suspended term of two and a half years, suspended for 18 months, and directed probation supervision. The case was heard at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 25 January 2017.
