Ciaran Ryan, aged 23, was charged in July at Dublin District Court with three firearms offences: possession of a CZ semi‑automatic pistol with two rounds of 7.65 Browning ammunition and one shotgun cartridge, allegedly committed at Connolly Station on 19 July. The Special Criminal Court, a three‑judge non‑jury court, was instructed by Mr Justice Tony Hunt, Judge Sinéad Ní Chúlacháin and Judge James Faughnan to try Ryan after the State applied for a non‑jury trial. His co‑accused, Nikita Murtagh, 20, faces the same charges and will also be tried before the Special Criminal Court.
