At the sentence stage of the trial, Alan 'Cookie' McNamara (51), from Mountfune, Murroe, Co Limerick, pleaded not guilty to the alleged murder of Andrew 'AOD' O'Donoghue on Saturday June 20, 2015 at Mountfune, as well as to impeding his apprehension knowing or believing him to have committed a serious offence. Robert Cusack (28), of Abington, Murroe, also pleaded not guilty to impeding Mr McNamara's apprehension. Alan McNamara's plea was not guilty, and no finding or sentence was recorded at this stage. The matter was adjourned and will continue next week in front of Justice Paul McDermott and a jury of seven men and four women.
