Ryan Lee Thomas, 25, was found guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court of sexually assaulting three women in the city centre on 30 December 2016 while under the influence of the party drug GBL, which he had purchased online. The assaults occurred over an hour‑and‑a‑half at a house party on Lower Gardiner Street and involved repeated attempts to touch and kiss the victims, who were all young women. Thomas also pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a controlled drug. Gardaí recovered additional GBL from his home the following day. Thomas has ten prior convictions in Melbourne for sexual offences committed while under the influence of the same drug. He will be sentenced on 27 July. The court heard that Thomas admitted possession of GBL but could not recall the events of that night. He has expressed regret and wishes to apologise to each victim.
