Weapons cache found by gardai who searched biker's club, murder trial hears

Summary

During a Garda search of a biker's clubhouse and vehicles linked to the 2015 shooting death of Andrew O'Donoghue, a cache of weapons was uncovered. The items included two shotguns, pepper spray, iron bars, axe handles, knuckle dusters and knives. The investigation was part of the murder trial of Alan McNamara, who is charged with O'Donoghue's death and has pleaded not guilty. McNamara's stepson, Robert Cusack, also pleaded not guilty to an offence of impeding the apprehension of McNamara. The trial, held at the Central Criminal Court, also heard testimony from Seamus Duggan, a Road Tramps member, who identified the weapons as being kept for protection at the club. Duggan's evidence, along with that of other Road Tramps members, was presented to the defence counsel, Hugh Hartnett SC, and the prosecution, Michael Delaney SC. The case continues before Justice Paul McDermott and a jury.
