Accused on trial for threatening to shoot man and burn his "house to the ground"

Summary

In a Special Criminal Court hearing in Limerick, Larry McCarthy Jnr, aged 37, was charged with threatening to kill Noel Moore and to damage Moore's property at Windsor House. McCarthy Jnr pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor Diana Stuart presented evidence that the alleged threats occurred on 28 July 2015 when McCarthy Jnr allegedly ran across Moore's garden and shouted threats while Moore was inside his home. Moore testified that McCarthy Jnr shouted that he would shoot him and that he would have Moore's house burned to the ground. Moore also claimed McCarthy Jnr said his son had threatened Moore's father. McCarthy Jnr's father, Larry McCarthy Snr, gave evidence that his son had left the house after a phone call with his daughter. The trial continues before Judges Tony Hunt, Martin Nolan and Flann Brennan.
