Summary

In December 2015, Joseph McKeon, aged 41, entered Partners at Law Solicitors in Dublin and, after being denied a refund cheque, became angry, kicked a door, damaged a security lock and threatened a female staff member that he would break her jaw and blow her head off. He also shouted about money he claimed belonged to him. McKeon was arrested and has since been in custody. He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to making a threat to kill or cause serious harm and damaging a door. He has eight prior convictions. Judge Karen O'Connor sentenced him to three and a half years, suspended the final year on strict conditions, and ordered that he be given credit for time already spent in custody. The judge also ordered that he stay away from the victim and the firm's offices. The case was prosecuted by Lorcan Staines BL and defended by Brian Storan BL.
