Robber repeatedly targeted taxi drivers

Summary

Thomas Joyce, aged 37, faces sentencing later this year for two additional robberies of taxi drivers in Finglas on 7 and 8 November 2016. He has 32 prior convictions, including five robberies and three attempted robberies against taxi drivers. At the time of the offences, Joyce flagged down the drivers and directed them to a lane on Rathoath Road, threatening the first driver with a cut and the second with blades that would slash his face. He fled after taking phones and cash from each driver. CCTV identified him in the first case and fingerprints in the second. He was arrested on 9 November 2016 at a halting site on Dunsink Lane. The court has adjourned the case to October to allow a probation report to be prepared. The proceedings are ongoing and no final sentence has yet been imposed. Thomas Joyce pleaded guilty.
