Summary

The jury in the Central Criminal Court case against Vesel Jahiri, aged 35 and originally from Kosovo, will resume deliberations tomorrow after spending four hours and 41 minutes on the verdict. Jahiri has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his former partner, Anna Finnegan, aged 25, who was killed at Allendale Glen, Clonsilla, Dublin 15 on 21 September 2012, and to assaulting Karl Finnegan on the same day. The judge, Mr Justice Paul Coffey, explained the possible verdicts: not guilty of murder if the killing was accidental or justified, guilty of manslaughter if a single knife was used accidentally, or guilty of murder if the stabbing was deliberate. Ms Joan Broe testified that she heard Finnegan screaming and saw Jahiri chase and assault her, then called emergency services.
