During the fourth week of the 35‑year‑old Vesel Jahiri's trial at the Central Criminal Court, he told the gardai that he did not stab his former partner, Anna Finnegan, and that he was not carrying a weapon when he forced his way into her house on 21 September 2012. Jahiri, who has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Finnegan and to assaulting her brother Karl, said he had been told by social services that he would never see his children, which caused him to become angry and enter the house.
