Murder trial hears blood evidence
Summary
During a murder trial at the Central Criminal Court, a forensic scientist presented evidence that blood matching the deceased Latvian man, Juris Buls, was found in the bedroom of the accused, Andresj Krauze, a 31‑year‑old from Dudley Heights, Glenamaddy. Buls had been reported missing by his girlfriend on the morning of July 9, 2011, after failing to appear for work at midnight on July 7. Gardaí discovered his body in a drain outside the town a few weeks later. On July 9, investigators noted a stain on the floor of Buls's bedroom. Dr Hilary Clarke confirmed that DNA testing of the stain matched Buls's profile. She also tested a cable tie found near the body, obtaining a partial DNA profile that also matched Buls.
