Summary

The Central Criminal Court trial of Vesel Jahiri, 35, has heard that Anna Finnegan died from a single stab wound to the chest. Mr Jahiri, originally from Kosovo and of no fixed abode, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Ms Finnegan (25) at Allendale Glen, Clonsilla, Dublin 15, on September 21, 2012. He stated that a single-edged knife could have inflicted the injury, which was non-survivable. No drugs or alcohol were detected in Ms Finnegan's body, and there were no defensive injuries. Under cross-examination, Dr Curtis agreed that the victim might not have been aware of the injury due to its severity. Witness Valdas Marma described seeing a dark-haired woman collapse in a driveway after hearing noises. The prosecution alleges Mr Jahiri battered down the door and attacked Ms Finnegan and her brother. The trial continues before Mr Justice Paul Coffey and a jury, with an expected duration of four to five weeks.
