Summary

During a murder trial in the Central Criminal Court, witness Joan Broe testified that on 21 September 2012, Anna Finnegan (26) was dragged by the neck and stabbed by her former partner Vesel Jahiri (35), who was originally from Kosovo and had no fixed abode. Broe, who was walking her dog at 8.30 pm that evening, heard a loud crash and a girl screaming for help. She saw Finnegan standing in her doorway, panicked and frightened, and later saw Jahiri and Karl Finnegan (Anna's brother) in the driveway. Broe described how Jahiri ran after Finnegan, jumped onto her back, and dragged her by the neck toward the house. She also reported seeing Finnegan's brother punched in the stomach and later lying on the ground. The prosecution had argued that Jahiri and Finnegan had been in a relationship for about ten years, had two children together, and had separated before the incident. Vesel Jahiri pleaded not guilty.
