Summary

Karl Finnegan, brother of the deceased Anna Finnegan, gave evidence in the Central Criminal Court trial of Vesel Jahiri. Finnegan described a violent incident on 21 September 2012 at the Finnegan home in Clonsilla, where Jahiri allegedly forced the front door, attacked Anna and Finnegan, and used a knife. Finnegan said he was struck, fell, and blacked out, later waking with stab wounds to his head and chest. He recounted seeing Jahiri with a knife, hearing a loud bang, and being unable to recall Anna's whereabouts. Finnegan also testified that he was injured, had difficulty breathing, and was hospitalized for three days. He denied that he had seen Jahiri hold a knife when entering the house and stated he was as truthful as possible. The trial continues before Mr Justice Coffey and a jury of nine men and three women, expected to last four to five weeks. Vesel Jahiri pleaded not guilty.
