€250k theft trial collapses after defence counsel falls ill
Summary
The trial of Anthony Roddy, 64, and Raymond Fee, 34, for stealing €250,000 from Kevin Brady collapsed after the defence counsel fell ill. Roddy and Fee had pleaded not guilty to theft and to dishonestly inducing Brady to provide a €100,000 bank draft for a supposed investment. The jury was discharged when the counsel was admitted to hospital, and Judge Karen O'Connor adjourned the case. The defendants will be tried again on 9 April 2018.
