Roy Collins murder trial adjourned over death of accused's mother
Summary
The Special Criminal Court adjourned the murder trial of Nathan Killeen (23) and Wayne Dundon (35) after the sudden death of Killeen's mother. Killeen, of Hyde Road, Prospect, and Dundon, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, are charged with killing businessman Roy Collins, 35, at Coin Castle Amusements on 9 April 2009. The trial began on 6 May 2014 but was paused when Killeen's mother died on Friday morning. Judge Iseult O'Malley, hearing the case, expressed condolences and granted an adjournment until next week, allowing Killeen to attend his mother's funeral with a supervised escort from the prison service. The prosecution had alleged that Dundon directed the murder from prison, Killeen was the getaway driver, and James Dillon fired the fatal shot. The case was set to resume on Monday. Nathan Killeen pleaded not guilty. Wayne Dundon pleaded not guilty.
