Summary
During the eighth day of his Central Criminal Court trial, 57‑year‑old Arnis Labunskis, accused of murdering 39‑year‑old Dainius Burba, became emotional while describing the incident. He said he had been washing his hands in the kitchen when Bur a grabbed him from behind and tore his clothes. Labunskis opened the door and told Bur a to leave, but Bur a ran upstairs. Later, Labunskis went downstairs for a cigarette and was called back to Bur a's room, which was dark except for shadowy light from a window. Bur a pushed the door closed and, according to Labunskis, began swinging an object. Labunskis claimed he grabbed the object, which turned out to be a table leg, and struck Bur a once, causing a scream. Bur a shouted, "Stop old man," before Labunskis fled into the corridor and turned on the light. The trial is proceeding before Justice Deirdre McCarthy and a jury of twelve.
