Gardaí called the house on 6 January and 8 January; Matracka claimed she last saw Rejmer at 11 pm on 30 December and that she had sent him a New Year's text. She later admitted to stabbing him after he allegedly entered her room with a knife, claiming self‑defence. A post‑mortem found haemorrhage from stab wounds to the arms, with defensive wounds on Rejmer's hands.
