Summary
In a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court hearing, a Nigerian woman alleged she was trafficked into Ireland and forced into prostitution by Joy Imasogie, 40, of Chapleswood Crescent, Hollystown. The woman claimed she was made to have sex with up to ten men a day for no payment, with visits occurring at night or lunchtime. Imasogie allegedly arranged the clients, advertised the service on an English‑based website, and set prices of €150 for half an hour and €250 for an hour. The woman said she was promised up to €2,000 a day, but Imasogie took half for arranging clients and half to pay a €50,000 debt she claimed the woman owed. She reported receiving no allowance, having to demand money for personal items, and being given a false passport. After a Gardaí call, she escaped by jumping out of a window, breaking her leg. She returned to prostitution after healing, travelling for overnight visits. Joy Imasogie pleaded not guilty.
